Automation in solar thermal technology has only just begun. At the forefront: DTEC GmbH from Austria, a specialist for automation technology and special machine construction.

"The ingenuity lies in the simplicity. Anyone can design complicated things". This quotation from Sergej P. Koroljow, the father of Russian space travel, is also something like the motto of the Austrian DTEC GmbH. Since its foundation in 2007, the still young company has developed into one of the leading specialists for automation technology and special machine construction for all branches of renewable energies, especially solar thermal energy. "Our spectrum ranges from comparatively simple assembly tables equipped with fixtures and tools, which can be operated manually, to fully automatic production lines," says Michael Dietl, main shareholder of the family-owned company.

DTEC offers the complete production program for solar collectors from a single source. Because DTEC covers all process steps from tube processing to laser welding of the absorber to the robot-supported production line for the collector. Fully automatic soldering systems are just as much a part of the portfolio as meander bending systems, bending/cranking stations, leak test units or gluing systems. Among DTEC's customers are well-known companies such as VIESSMANN and GREENoneTEC. But the automation specialist does not only address the big players in the industry. "Our production lines have a modular structure," explains Dietl. "This has the advantage that smaller companies that do not want to invest immediately in full automation can gradually expand their production over the years.

DTEC does not only develop and manufacture machines. "We analyze and optimize all manual and mechanical manufacturing processes - from raw material processing to the finished collector," says Dietl.

The roots of the now 22 DTEC specialists lie in the automotive supply industry. This wealth of experience of the automotive standard forms the basis on which the team also designs its DTEC systems for the solar industry in the best possible maintenance-free and industrially suitable manner. DTEC's range of services starts with the project planning, extends to the installation of the systems and the commissioning up to the training of the customer's employees. Of course, DTEC also takes care of optimisation, service and maintenance. "As a competent and reliable partner, we attach particular importance to a lasting and honest partnership with our customers," emphasizes Dietl. Just as important is the long-term cooperation with suppliers. For example, there is a close relationship with the renowned laser source manufacturer TRUMPF and the mixing and dosing system manufacturer SONDERHOFF Engineering.

For the future, DTEC will continue to expand its core competencies. "New innovative production possibilities are created and we invest in research and development," says Dietl, describing the tasks of the future to develop DTEC into a consolidated brand for quality and quantity.
